Central to the style of Vinyasa yoga is the mini Vinyasa sequence, a series of three postures – Upper plank, Lower plank and Upward Dog that is both an entry and exit point into other flowing postures. Ujjayi breathing is encouraged throughout to create internal heat in the body and to equalize the length of the inhalation and exhalation, oxygenating the body and mind more effectively. Bandhas or muscle locks are also practiced which help to move breath and its energy around the body. Vinyasa classes always end in a period of relaxation.
